The town of Yubari-gun Kuriyama-cho is surrounded by attractions worth visiting. A 5-minute train ride from Kuriyama Station will bring you to Yuni Garden. This garden facility in Yuni town is about a 30-minute walk from Yuni station. In spring, summer and autumn, the garden becomes a stunning display of colors from the bloom of flowers throughout the seasons. Yuni Garden is a great place to experience the vast scenery unique to Hokkaido and the different scenery every time you visit.
One child-friendly attraction near Kuriyama-cho is Heidi Farm in Naganuma, a guest ranch and dairy farm all in one. Visitors can try their hand at milking cows and goats, horseback riding, and more. The farm also sells its own delicious yogurt drink made from fresh cow's milk. It is a fun place for people of all ages to interact with nature and learn about where the food comes from.
Every autumn, residents can look forward to the Kuriyama Tenmangu Shrine Festival which is held on every 24th of September near Kuriyama Park. This is when the largest street stalls in Hokkaido are set up to welcome the crowds. Expect about 300 stalls and the entrance road to the shrine to be thronged with visitors for the autumn celebration.
